Music is what feelings sound like

Standard

One fantastic thing about music; when it hits you, you feel no pain. Your feet embrace rhythm and your heart swells to the tune. Music can illicit emotions that we subconsciously want to feel in a given moment. One thing science has never been able to explain is why we love. BUT when music can spark a memory, paint a moment or describe a passionate tale, an explanation really isn’t necessary.

Interstellar

Standard

If something greater should ever reach our world, I want to be standing at the edge of the lake where it meets. I dream to be blazed from the spellbinding smoke drifting off the water. Interstellar beams illuminating the golden lake will reflect out of reach magic. The disjointed puzzle of sky rise branches scope the light. This focuses the rays into the water and kindles its grace. Surrounding grassland naturally indulge in the smoke and will balance my stance when I witness this magic.

It’s crazy how being in the middle of nowhere can make you feel so independently large and adventurous yet small and lost between the paper oaks. The natural or manmade engravings of a tree trunk characterise the surrounding land. The leafy dirt tracks with no visible endings not only guide a journey but is the fencing to nature’s home. The spreading canopy of green above seems so distant yet intimately sheltering. The regrowth of fauna illuminates the scorched trunks and despite the rain, the smell of burning lingers. The mosaic of branches above leaves me mute and bewildered. Mother nature’s sanctuary of sun-dappled leaves, placid droplets and alpine oaks stands still and tranquil for life to admire, inhabit and appreciate.

#3 All In The Eve

Standard

Whilst our trip is coming to a close with only 5 days remaining, New Years Eve proposes opportunities for resolutions, new beginnings, new relationships, new goals and new adventures. I love new adventures and the opportune for memorable, cringing, head in the hands or head back laughing memories. New Years Eve in California is all about bright themed sunglasses, sparklers, poppers, fireworks, music, dancing and that 12 o’clock kiss. For some a New Years kiss is just for a happy snap or bragging rights but for others it says ‘i loved last year, take me with you this year’. Unfortunately being 7,969 miles away from my boyfriend I missed that moment this year. Never the less, and despite the different time zones, we still made contact and have assured that our adventures, travels and mischievous acts will be better than ever in 2015.

Fireworks and rich sunsets are two of my favourite things and New Years Eve back home in Australia provides and excels in both of these. On the hot summer night; the warm sand, crashing waves and deep water ripples are light up with the colours and flames of a New Year. Toasting to the moon, all drinks are raised proudly to year ahead. This is my favourite time of the year.

#2 – The city that never sleeps

Standard

New York is like the bottom of a milo glass. All the good stuff is under the grey, diluted sky. That probably sounds a tad too metaphorical but it’s how i like to think. I think the value of handwriting is under-rated and life is so much more exciting when described visually and allegorically.

I’ve never experienced a climate quite so cold being in New York at Christmas time. I appreciate the value and beauty of lights and admire its colours and rythems. It could be 8pm yet Time Square would seem as if a bright noon. Im not an excessively large drinker, but being nineteen in the U.S is only tempting me becuase I can’t. We always want what we can’t have right?

Everyone seems to always be in a hurry. It’s heads down, black briefcases, woollen brimmed beanies, pressed suits and every man for himself.  Central Park, Manhattan, is the pinnacle for myself. Its simplicity is intricate and it’s intricacy is blissful. The ‘big apple’ is all about instant reactions, making an impression and Starbucks coffee shops. Even though I prefer a relaxed and beachside life style, the excitement New York entails is priceless and unique and the best way to fit in is to stand out.

#1- welcome

I don’t like to read over my writing. So no grammar police please. The more raw it is, the more real my thoughts are and the more relatable it is for a reader. I’m not sure how far this will go or how many people, if any, will read this.

I hope to give people a deeper understanding and more colourful view on life, emotions, circumstances and places. I have a very analytical and abstract yet fun mind frame but sometimes it’s too complicated for me to comprehend myself. Writing it down makes is that much clearer for me. I’m excited to share this with people, even if its only the internet rebounding my blogs back me and me only. It’ll be a boomerang effect for myself at least:)
